The Abarth 500 and its siblings, the 595 and the 695, are built on the same body and the same dashboard as the Fiat 500 – the fact that causes most of the confusion around a radio swap. That is why both brand names appear in our product titles: this is not a substitute solution, it is that physically the same frame and the same wiring loom fit the Fiat and the Abarth versions. The 7-inch version fills the factory radio aperture exactly, so the look of the dashboard stays entirely original. The 9-inch screen is more striking and far more usable in map view, but it protrudes slightly from the console – which one you choose is a matter of taste. Do pay attention to the frame colour, though: it is available in beige and black, and it has to match the dashboard colour, because Abarths with body-coloured inserts often have a light console. The units come with an eight-core processor, an HD touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, GPS navigation, Bluetooth hands-free calling, a reversing camera input and a multi-language menu. The Abarth-specific auxiliary instruments, including the boost gauge, work unchanged after the swap, because they do not take their data from the radio.
