Volkswagen Android Head Units – what you need to know
For almost every popular Volkswagen model, the TopNAVI range has a factory-look Android head unit and car stereo: Golf 4, Golf 5, Golf 6, Golf 7 and Golf Plus, Passat B5, B5.5, B6, B7, B8 and Passat CC, Polo 4 and Polo 5, Tiguan, Touran, Jetta, Bora, Beetle, Scirocco, EOS, Sharan, Lupo, Amarok, Caddy, Touareg, Transporter T5 and T6, Multivan and Crafter. VW Android head units fit in place of the factory unit, inside the factory frame, so the cabin is left untouched after installation. Every unit supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a full multi-language menu, the Google Play store, Waze, Google Maps and Sygic navigation, Bluetooth hands-free calling, FM/RDS radio, WiFi and 4G internet, and keeps the factory steering wheel buttons working through a CAN-BUS adapter. The factory reversing camera and parking sensor signals are retained too, and can be extended with our Volkswagen model-specific reversing camera, which replaces the factory number plate light or the boot emblem. The units come in several specification levels – STANDARD, PRO, ELITE and PREMIUM – differing in processor performance, memory (from 2+32 GB up to 8+128 GB), screen resolution, the built-in DSP audio processor and 360-degree camera support. Every head unit comes with the model-specific wiring looms and frames, so there is no cutting or soldering. We give a 2-year warranty on our products, ship from stock, and are happy to help you pick the right model before installation on +36 76 200 246.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know which Volkswagen head unit fits my car?
The choice depends on the model, the year and the factory radio frame. The Golf 4, Bora, Passat B5/B5.5, Polo 4, Sharan, Lupo and the 2003–2009 Transporter typically need the 7-inch version without a rotary knob, while the Golf 5/6, Passat B6/B7/CC, Polo 5, Tiguan, Touran, Jetta, Caddy, Amarok, Beetle, Scirocco and EOS take the wider 7, 8 or 9-inch version. The Golf 7, the Passat B8 and the Crafter have their own model-specific frame. If you are unsure, send us a photo of your factory radio and we will tell you which one is right.
Does the Crafter head unit also fit the MAN TGE?
Yes. The Volkswagen Crafter built after 2016 and the MAN TGE are the same vehicle with two badges; the dashboard and the radio frame are identical, so the 10.1-inch Android head unit offered for the Crafter also fits the MAN TGE. The same applies to older Volkswagen platform siblings: the unit for the Sharan also fits certain model years of the Ford Galaxy and the Seat Alhambra.
Do the factory steering wheel controls, reversing camera and parking sensors keep working?
Yes. The CAN-BUS adapter included in the box keeps the factory steering wheel buttons, the parking sensor audio and on-screen display, the climate display and the factory reversing camera picture. If the car has no factory camera, our Volkswagen model-specific reversing cameras replace the number plate light or the boot release emblem, and the head unit switches to them automatically in reverse.
Do CarPlay and Android Auto work wirelessly?
Every Volkswagen Android head unit we sell supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so you can leave your phone in your pocket. A wired USB connection is also possible, which charges the phone at the same time. On the PRO, ELITE and PREMIUM levels the connection is faster and more stable thanks to the stronger WiFi module.
What is the warranty, and can you fit it for me?
We give a 2-year warranty on every head unit and reversing camera, with an invoice. In most cases the unit can be fitted at home, because it plugs into the factory connectors – there is no cutting or soldering. If you would rather leave it to a professional, our partner workshops in several locations across Hungary carry out the installation – write to us or call +36 76 200 246 and we will tell you which one is nearest to you.
