Abarth 500 and Punto Head Units – what you need to know
Abarth is Fiat's sporting brand, and from the point of view of a radio swap that is good news: the dashboard of the Abarth 500, 595 and 695 is practically identical to that of the Fiat 500, and the Abarth Punto and Linea belong to the Grande Punto dashboard family. That is why the same model-specific Android head unit kits fit them as the corresponding Fiat models, and why both brand names appear in our product titles. The units go in place of the original radio with a factory-look frame and a plug-in wiring loom, so the dashboard does not have to be cut or modified. The specification includes an eight-core processor, an HD touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, GPS navigation, Bluetooth hands-free calling, a reversing camera input and a multi-language menu; the factory steering wheel controls are retained after the learning procedure, and the Abarth-specific instruments such as the boost gauge do not run off the radio, so the swap does not affect them. There are two things worth thinking through before choosing. One is the colour of the frame: the dashboard of the Abarth and Fiat 500 came in both beige and black, and the kit should be matched to the colour of your own dashboard, otherwise the frame will clash with its surroundings. The other is the screen size: the 7-inch screen stays in line with the original radio aperture, while the 9-inch takes up more of the centre console – that is a matter of taste, but it is worth looking at the product photos. If you are unsure, send us a photo of the centre section of the dashboard and we will write back to say which kit is right. Every Abarth head unit we sell carries a 2-year warranty, and items in stock are posted within one working day.
